Moldova entry requirements for Austria passport holders
Austrian passport holders can enter Moldova without a visa for stays up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This has been the case for years and remains unchanged in 2026. Just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date and you have a return or onward ticket ready.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must cover your entire stay in Moldova | Your Austrian passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Moldova. Moldova does not enforce a 6-month validity rule for Austrian nationals — as long as the passport is valid when you enter, you are fine. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Immigration may ask for proof of departure | Have a return ticket or onward ticket to a third country ready. Moldovan border officers at Chișinău Airport check this regularly, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. | Recommended |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Keep a printed or digital copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration officers occasionally ask for this at the border. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself during the stay | Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least €50 per day of your stay. Moldovan immigration rarely asks for this, but having it ready avoids delays. | Recommended |
