Uganda entry requirements for Australia passport holders
Australian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. The process is entirely online — you apply before you travel and receive an approval via email. As of 2026, there is no visa-on-arrival option for Australians, so plan ahead.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| eVisa application Apply before travel | Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The eVisa costs $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa and processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisa | Required |
| Valid passport Must have 6 months validity | Your Australian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda. Airlines at Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Required for entry | Immigration at Entebbe International Airport routinely asks for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready — they will deny entry if you cannot show one. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host letter | Carry a printed booking confirmation for your first night in Uganda. Immigration officers sometimes ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A simple hotel confirmation email works. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself | Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least $300 USD for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if you look underprepared they may request it. | Recommended |
