Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Belgian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Barbados. Barbados does not enforce the 6-month validity rule for Belgian nationals — just make sure it doesn't expire before you leave.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Barbados
Immigration officers at Grantley Adams International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Barbados immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from your host with their contact details and address.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your trip. A recent bank statement or credit card with a sufficient limit usually satisfies the officer.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Barbados requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you will not be allowed to fly.
No visa, no fee, no application
Belgian passport holders do not need to apply for any visa or pay any fee. Just show up with your passport and a return ticket. The entry stamp is free.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date) and that you have at least one blank page. Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone. Consider getting travel insurance and a local eSIM.
2
Arrive at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI)
After landing, follow signs to Immigration. Join the queue for non-CARICOM visitors. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will ask your purpose of visit and length of stay. Answer clearly. You'll receive an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days.
3
Collect luggage and proceed to Customs
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. Declare any items over the duty-free allowance. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. Exit into the arrivals hall.

No. There is no online arrival declaration required. You'll fill out a paper immigration and customs form on the plane or at the airport upon arrival.
No. The visa-free entry is for tourism only. Working (including remote work for a foreign employer) is not permitted. Barbados has a separate Barbados Welcome Stamp for digital nomads if you want to work legally.
Overstaying is a violation of immigration law. You may face fines, detention, and a ban from re-entering Barbados. Always leave before your stamp expires.
Not mandatory for entry, but strongly recommended. Medical costs in Barbados are high — a simple hospital visit can cost hundreds of dollars. Insurance covers that and also trip cancellation, lost luggage, etc.
