Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply for an eVisa before travel
Apply for your Gabon eVisa at evisa.gouv.ga before you fly. The eVisa is valid for a single entry and allows a stay of up to 30 days. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week ahead.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Belgian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Gabon. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration at Libreville enforces it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Libreville Leon Mba International Airport asks for a return or onward ticket before they stamp you in. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Gabon. Immigration officers ask for this regularly, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough funds for your stay. Gabon is not cheap — budget at least 100,000 XAF (€150) per day for accommodation, food, and transport.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) to enter Gabon. Immigration officers at Libreville airport do check. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot at your own expense.
eVisa is tied to your passport number
The eVisa is linked to the passport number you enter in the application. If you renew your passport after getting the eVisa, you'll need to apply again with the new passport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.ga, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around €70–€100 depending on processing speed) by credit card. You'll get a confirmation email within minutes.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 2–3 business days, but can be slower during holidays. Check your spam folder. Once approved, you'll receive a PDF — save it to your phone and print a copy just in case.
3
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport, eVisa printout (or phone), return ticket, and hotel booking ready. The officer will stamp you in — expect a short wait.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no baggage check unless you're carrying something unusual. Exit into the arrivals hall.
