Belgian passport holders can enter Kazakhstan without a visa for stays up to 30 days. This visa-free arrangement is valid for tourism and business visits in 2025. Just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Kazakhstan. Border officers at Almaty and Nur-Sultan airports check this carefully — if your passport expires before you leave, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kazakhstan
Immigration at both Almaty and Nur-Sultan airports routinely asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready — they won't let you through without one.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you're arriving without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your trip. The official threshold is around $50 USD per day, but officers rarely ask for it unless you look short on cash.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before you board. If your passport has less than 6 months validity from your arrival date, you'll be denied boarding. No exceptions.
No visa, no fee, no forms
This is a true visa-free entry — no application, no payment, no arrival card. Just show your passport and you're in for up to 30 days.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Kazakh immigration
At Almaty or Astana airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day entry stamp. No visa application or fee needed.
2
Show return ticket if asked
Immigration officers may ask for proof of onward travel. Have your return flight or onward ticket ready on your phone or printed. They rarely ask, but it's better to be prepared.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's no arrival declaration form to fill out. You're free to enter.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Kazakhstan before the 30 days are up. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban from re-entry.
You'll need to apply for a visa before you travel. Contact the Kazakh embassy in Brussels or check the official e-visa portal. There's no option to switch from visa-free to a longer visa once you're in the country.
For stays under 30 days, no registration is needed. If you somehow get a longer visa, you'd need to register within 5 days — but that doesn't apply to the visa-free entry.
No, there is no arrival declaration required for Belgian passport holders entering Kazakhstan visa-free. Just walk through customs after passport control.
You'll likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at the border. Check your passport's expiry date well before you travel. If it's close, renew it first.
Yes, the visa-free policy applies at all land borders too. Just make sure you have your passport and return ticket ready. Land crossings can be slower, so expect longer queues.
If you're transiting through an airport and don't leave the transit zone, no visa is needed. But if you want to leave the airport, you'll need the visa-free entry (up to 30 days) — no separate transit visa required.
