Belgian passport holders can enter Moldova without a visa for stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This has been the case since 2014 and remains unchanged in 2026. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Belgian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Moldova. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Moldovan law, but airlines may check for at least 3 months validity.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Moldova
Immigration officers at Chișinău Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and contact number ready. Not always requested, but saves time if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your stay. Carry a bank statement or credit card — around €50 per day is a safe benchmark. Rarely checked for Belgian passport holders, but better to have it.Recommended
No visa needed — but don't skip the basics
Visa-free entry is straightforward, but border officers still check passport validity and onward tickets. Have both ready to avoid delays.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiring, renew before you go.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Chișinău International Airport (or land border)
Most Belgian travellers fly into Chișinău. The immigration hall is small but efficient. Join the queue for 'All Passports' — there's no separate EU lane. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your passport to the border officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your photo, validity, and may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying, how long). Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Receive your entry stamp
If everything's fine, the officer stamps your passport with the entry date and the number of days you're allowed to stay (usually 90). Check the stamp before walking away.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
