Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Namibia. Carry a photocopy of the bio page separately in case of loss.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Namibia
Immigration officers at Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport routinely ask for a printed or digital onward ticket. Have your return flight or a bus/ticket to a neighboring country ready to show.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital copy of your hotel reservation, lodge booking, or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers may ask for it if you look uncertain about where you're staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a recent bank statement or credit card ready. Immigration may ask how you'll cover your stay — 200–300 NAD per day is a safe benchmark to reference.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Namibia, not from when you leave. If your passport expires in 5 months, you'll be turned away.
No visa extensions available
The 90-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. If you overstay, you risk fines and future entry bans. Plan your trip to fit within 90 days.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Windhoek or other entry point
Most travellers fly into Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) near Windhoek. You'll join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready.
2
Present documents at immigration counter
Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer will check your passport validity, blank page, and onward ticket. They may ask a few questions about your trip (purpose, length of stay). Answer clearly.
3
Receive entry stamp
If everything is in order, the officer stamps your passport with a visitor's entry permit valid for up to 90 days. Check the stamp before leaving the counter — make sure the allowed stay is correct.
4
Collect baggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There are no additional visa-related steps. You're free to enter Namibia.
