RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Belgian passport holders get a free 30-day visa on arrival at Hamad International Airport. Hand over your passport at the immigration counter — no pre-application needed. You can extend once for another 30 days at the Ministry of Interior (fee ~200 QAR).Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date in Qatar. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Return ticket
Immigration officers at Doha routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward flight booking ready. If you're flying out via a budget carrier, they'll check it at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Accommodation booking
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Qatar. Immigration may ask for it if you look like you're staying with friends or family — a printed booking confirmation covers you.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you can support yourself during your stay. Officers rarely ask for it for short visits, but having a statement with a few thousand QAR available avoids delays.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Qatari immigration will deny entry if your passport has less than 6 months validity from your arrival date. Airlines also check this before boarding. Renew early.
Keep your return ticket handy
Immigration officers often ask to see your return or onward ticket. Have a screenshot or printed copy ready — don't rely on pulling it up on your phone under pressure.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hamad International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Visa on Arrival' counters. They are clearly marked and usually have short queues for EU passport holders.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation confirmation. The officer will check your passport validity and blank page.
3
Pay the visa fee
The visa-on-arrival costs QAR 100 (about €25). Pay by credit card or cash (Qatari riyals). Keep the receipt.
4
Receive your visa sticker
The officer will affix a visa sticker to a blank page in your passport. It's valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Double-check the dates before leaving the counter.
5
Proceed to baggage claim and exit
After getting the visa, head to baggage claim, then customs. There are no additional checks for Belgian nationals.
