Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Belgian passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Russia. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Russian law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Russian airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready — they will check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter from your host (with their passport copy) satisfy the requirement. Officers rarely ask, but if you cannot show where you are staying, they may deny entry.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry at least 500 EUR (or equivalent in rubles) per day of your stay. Cash or a bank statement showing available funds works. Officers rarely check, but it is a legal requirement under Russian migration law.Recommended
eVisa only at specific entry points
The Russian eVisa is only valid at designated border checkpoints. Major airports like Moscow Sheremetyevo and St. Petersburg Pulkovo are included, but many land crossings are not. Check the official list before you travel.
Registration required after 7 days
If you stay more than 7 days, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office within 7 days of arrival. Keep the registration slip — you may need it when leaving.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Russian eVisa website (evisa.kdmid.ru). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a recent passport-style photo. Pay the fee (if any) and submit. Processing usually takes up to 4 calendar days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa. Print a paper copy and save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at passport control.
3
Arrive at the airport in Russia
At passport control, hand over your passport and printed eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with your entry date.
4
Register your stay (if staying more than 7 days)
If you're staying longer than 7 days, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office within 7 days of arrival. If you're in a private apartment, the host handles this. Keep the registration slip — you may need it when leaving.
