Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Belgian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Kosovo. No minimum validity period beyond your stay is required by Kosovo authorities, but airlines may enforce 3 months validity — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kosovo
Immigration officers at Pristina International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from your host with their address and contact details ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
You may be asked to show you have enough cash or credit for your trip. Carry at least €50–100 per day of stay in cash or have a credit card with available balance.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Kosovo border officers are known to check passport validity carefully. If your passport has less than 6 months left from your arrival date, you will be refused entry. No exceptions.
No visa needed, but keep documents handy
While entry is straightforward, immigration may ask for your return ticket and accommodation booking. Have them saved on your phone or printed out to speed things up.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Pristina International Airport (PRN)
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for EU/EEA and other nationals. As a Belgian passport holder, use the EU/EEA line.
2
Present your passport and supporting documents
Hand over your passport and, if asked, your return ticket and accommodation booking. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and how long you plan to stay. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before stepping away. If it's wrong, ask for a correction immediately.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall where taxis and buses are available.

Frequently asked questions

No. Belgian citizens can enter Kosovo visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This applies for tourism, business, or family visits.
No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must leave Kosovo before the 90 days are up and re-enter after a period outside the country. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
You'll likely be denied entry. Kosovo requires at least 6 months of passport validity from your arrival date. Renew your passport before traveling.
Yes, you need proof of onward travel — a return flight to Belgium or a ticket to your next destination. A bus or train ticket may also work, but a flight is the safest bet.
No, it's not required at the border. But it's strongly recommended. Medical evacuation from Kosovo can be expensive, and local hospitals may require upfront payment for treatment.
Yes, you can enter by land from Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, or Albania. The same visa-free rules apply. Just have your passport ready for inspection at the border crossing.
Kosovo uses the Euro (EUR), even though it's not in the EU. You can withdraw euros from ATMs in Pristina and other towns. Credit cards are accepted in hotels and larger restaurants, but cash is king in smaller shops and markets.
