What happens at the border

1
Arrive at La Aurora International Airport (GUA)
Most travelers fly into Guatemala City. After landing, follow signs to 'Migración' (Immigration). There are two queues: one for Guatemalan citizens and one for foreigners. Join the foreigners queue.
2
Present your documents at the immigration counter
Hand over your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation proof) if asked. The officer will scan your passport, take a quick look at you, and stamp it. No forms to fill out.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, head to baggage claim. Then go through customs — usually a red/green light system. If you get a green light, you walk through. Red means a bag check.
4
Exit the arrivals hall
Once through customs, you are in the arrivals hall. Taxis and shuttle services are available. Official taxis have yellow plates and a rate board near the exit.
