Rwanda entry requirements for Canada passport holders
Canadians don't need a visa to visit Rwanda for tourism or business stays up to 30 days. Just show up with a valid passport and a return ticket, and you'll get a free entry stamp on arrival. This policy is in effect for 2026.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must be valid for the duration of your stay | Your Canadian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Rwanda. Rwanda does not enforce a 6-month validity rule for Canadians, but airlines sometimes check for at least 3 months beyond your departure date. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Rwanda | Immigration officers at Kigali International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. This applies even for visa-free entry. | Recommended |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | You may be asked where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number is enough. Keep a copy on your phone or printed. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself | Immigration can ask for evidence of sufficient funds. Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least $500 USD equivalent. This is rarely checked for short visits but better to have it. | Recommended |
