Valid passport
Swiss passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. The airline will check this at check-in, and immigration at Yangon or Mandalay will enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket out of Myanmar. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they will check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
Have a hotel reservation or invitation letter from your host ready. Immigration may ask for it at the counter, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial evidence
Carry cash (USD or local kyat) or a bank statement showing at least $300–$500 for your stay. ATMs exist in Yangon and Mandalay but can be unreliable outside major cities.Recommended
eVisa only valid at airports
The eVisa cannot be used at land border crossings. You must fly into Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw. If you plan to enter by land from Thailand or India, you'll need a different visa type.
Keep digital copies
Save your eVisa PDF, flight booking, and hotel confirmation on your phone. Airport Wi-Fi can be unreliable, so download them before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD) by credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3 business days, but can be faster. Check your email (including spam) for the eVisa approval letter. It's a PDF with your photo and a QR code. Print a copy and save it on your phone.
3
Arrive at the airport
You can use the eVisa at Yangon International Airport (RGN), Mandalay International Airport (MDL), or Naypyidaw International Airport (NYT). Land border crossings are not covered — you must fly in.
4
Go through immigration
At the immigration counter, hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass. The officer will check your details, stamp your passport, and let you through. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready just in case.
