What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Nigeria Immigration Service portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng) and fill out the eVisa application. You'll need to upload a digital passport photo, your passport data page, and supporting documents like flight and hotel bookings.
2
Pay the visa fee
The fee is paid online via credit/debit card. As of 2026, the cost is around $160 USD for a single-entry visa. Processing takes 3–5 business days, sometimes longer.
3
Receive your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print it out and keep a digital copy on your phone. You'll present this at the airline check-in counter and again on arrival in Nigeria.
4
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
Most travellers fly into Lagos (LOS) or Abuja (ABV). At immigration, join the 'eVisa' queue (not the visa-on-arrival queue). Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. They'll stamp you in.
