Cameroonian passport holders need a visa to enter Monaco. Since Monaco doesn't have its own embassy, you apply for a French Schengen visa, which also covers Monaco. Processing can take several weeks, so plan ahead.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply for a visa at the Monaco embassy or consulate
Cameroon passport holders need a visa before traveling to Monaco. Submit your application at the nearest French embassy or consulate (Monaco does not have its own visa-issuing missions abroad). Processing takes 2–3 weeks, and you'll need a valid passport, flight itinerary, hotel booking, and proof of funds.Check visa requirementsRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area
Your passport needs at least two blank pages for entry/exit stamps. The 3-month validity rule applies across the entire Schengen zone — border officers check this strictly. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the visa.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration at Monaco's port or the French border will ask for a return flight or onward ticket out of the Schengen zone. A bus or train ticket to a non-Schengen country works too. Airlines also check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a confirmed hotel reservation for your entire stay in Monaco. If staying with a friend or family member, bring a signed invitation letter from your host plus a copy of their residence permit or ID. Border officers may ask for this at entry.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Carry bank statements from the last 3 months showing at least €65 per day of your stay. Cash or a credit card with a sufficient limit also works. Immigration rarely asks, but the visa application requires it.Recommended
Apply well in advance
Visa processing can take up to 45 days. Do not book flights or accommodation until your visa is approved.
Monaco has no airport
You will fly into Nice, France, and then take a bus, train, or taxi to Monaco (about 30 minutes). Your visa must be a French Schengen visa to enter France first.

What happens at the border

2
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 15 calendar days, but can take up to 45 days during peak season. Do not book non-refundable flights until you have the visa.
3
Collect your passport with visa
Once approved, your passport will have a Schengen visa sticker. Check that the dates and number of entries match your travel plans.
4
Arrive in Monaco
Monaco has no airport — fly into Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (France), then take a bus, train, or taxi to Monaco (about 30 minutes). At immigration in Nice, present your passport and visa. Have your return ticket and accommodation address ready.

Frequently asked questions

No. A French Schengen visa allows you to enter Monaco for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Monaco is part of the Schengen area for visa purposes.
You apply at the French embassy in Yaoundé or consulate in Douala. Check their website for appointment booking.
The standard Schengen visa fee is €80 for adults, €40 for children aged 6–12, and free for children under 6. Fees are subject to change — confirm at the time of application.
Processing usually takes 15 calendar days, but can take up to 45 days if more documentation is needed or during peak travel season. Apply at least 4–6 weeks before your trip.
Extensions are not granted for tourist stays. You must leave the Schengen area before your visa expires. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban from re-entering.
For stays longer than 90 days, you need a long-stay visa or residence permit from France (since Monaco does not issue its own long-stay visas). This is a separate, more involved process.
If you are transiting through France to Monaco, you still need a Schengen visa because you will enter the Schengen area. There is no transit exemption for Cameroonian passport holders.
