Cameroonian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. You apply entirely online before traveling, and you'll receive an approval letter to present at Entebbe or any land border. As of 2026, this is the only visa option — visa-on-arrival is not available for Cameroonians.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Uganda eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The single-entry tourist eVisa costs $50 USD and is valid for 90 days from issue. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6+ months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda. It must have at least two blank visa pages. Airlines at Douala and Yaoundé check this before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without it, you may be denied boarding in Cameroon.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking or an invitation letter with a local address speeds up the immigration process. If you're staying with friends, ask them to write a letter with their contact details and address.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Carry bank statements or a credit card showing at least $300 USD equivalent. Cash in USD is widely accepted for exchange at the airport.Recommended
Apply early — processing can be slow
The eVisa system sometimes takes longer than advertised, especially during holidays. Don't wait until the last week. Apply at least 2 weeks before your flight.
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the border (and pay). Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) by credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days, sometimes longer — apply at least 2 weeks before your trip.
2
Receive and print your approval letter
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. The letter has a barcode that immigration will scan on arrival.
3
Arrive at Entebbe or a land border
At Entebbe International Airport, follow signs to 'Visa/Immigration'. Hand over your passport, approval letter, and return ticket. The officer will check your details, take a fingerprint, and stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10–15 minutes if you have everything ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. You're now free to enter Uganda.
