Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Cameroon eVisa at the official portal before departure. Processing takes 3–5 business days — do not book flights until approved. Print two copies of the approval letter to carry with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cameroon. Airlines at departure check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Yaoundé and Douala airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone — they rarely check dates, just that you have one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a signed invitation letter from your host in Cameroon. Immigration may ask for it if you look uncertain about where you are staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card statement
Have at least 500,000 XAF (about $800 USD) in cash, a bank statement, or a credit card showing available credit. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your stay.Recommended
Passport validity is strict
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Cameroon. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
Keep digital copies handy
Save your eVisa, return ticket, and hotel confirmation as PDFs on your phone. You'll need them at check-in and immigration.
