Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your entry date into Morocco. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Overstaying your 90-day visa-free period costs 100 MAD per day (about $10), paid at the airport departure counter.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Morocco
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave within 90 days. Budget airlines flying into Casablanca or Marrakech are especially strict about this — have a printed or digital copy ready. A refundable onward ticket booked through a third party works if your plans are flexible.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Immigration at Casablanca and Marrakech airports sometimes ask for this, especially if you arrive late at night. A booking on Booking.com or Airbnb with free cancellation is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 5000 MAD (about $500) for a short trip. Officers rarely ask for this, but if you look under-prepared or have no accommodation booked, they might. A screenshot of your online banking app works.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity before boarding. If you have less than 6 months left, they may deny boarding even if Morocco would let you in. Don't risk it.
No visa, no fee, no application
You don't need to apply for anything before you go. Just show up with your passport and a return ticket. No embassy visit, no visa fee, no paperwork.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Print or save your return ticket and first night hotel booking. Get travel insurance if you want.
2
Arrive at Moroccan airport
At Casablanca, Marrakech, or any other airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (Passeport). Join the queue for foreign passports.
3
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a 90-day entry.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, go to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel for nothing to declare. Red channel if you have goods over 2,000 MAD or restricted items.
