Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for a Nigeria eVisa at the official Immigration Service portal before you fly. The application takes about 15 minutes and you'll need a digital passport photo and proof of yellow fever vaccination. Approval usually comes within 3-5 business days — don't book non-refundable flights until you have the visa in hand.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your intended stay
Your Colombian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Nigeria. Airlines at Bogotá and connecting hubs will check this before letting you board — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Nigeria
Immigration officers at Lagos and Abuja routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone — they won't let you through without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your Nigerian host. Immigration may ask where you're staying, and having proof avoids a long conversation at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statements or cash
Have bank statements from the last 3 months or enough cash (around $1,000 USD equivalent) to cover your stay. Officers occasionally ask to see you have means to support yourself.Recommended
eVisa required — no visa on arrival
Colombian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Nigeria. You must apply for an eVisa online before you travel. Without an approved eVisa, you'll be denied boarding.
Yellow fever vaccination required
You need proof of yellow fever vaccination (yellow card) to enter Nigeria. Carry it with your passport — health screening at the airport may check it.
eSIMs work immediately on arrival
Airalo eSIMs activate the moment your plane lands — no need to queue at an airport kiosk. Useful for getting online right away.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Nigeria Immigration Service portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scanned copy of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $160–$200 depending on nationality) with a credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an eVisa approval letter by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show this at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
Fly into any international airport — Lagos (LOS), Abuja (ABV), or Port Harcourt (PHC). At immigration, join the 'eVisa' queue. Hand over your passport, eVisa approval letter, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Expect to answer a few questions about your stay.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. You may be asked to show your yellow fever vaccination card at health screening. Then proceed to customs and exit.
