Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Tajikistan eVisa at evisa.tj. The process takes 3–5 working days, and you receive a PDF by email. Print two copies — one for the airline check-in counter and one for immigration at Dushanbe Airport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Colombian passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Tajikistan does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — just make sure it covers your full trip.Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended
Immigration officers at Dushanbe Airport sometimes ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or next-destination ticket ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from a host can smooth the entry process. Keep a printed copy or have it accessible on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry enough cash (USD or euros) or a credit card to cover your stay. Tajikistan is a cash-heavy country — ATMs in Dushanbe work but can run out of somoni on weekends.Recommended
No visa on arrival for Colombians
You cannot get a visa at the airport or at any land border. The eVisa must be approved and in your hands before you fly. Airlines will check this before letting you board.
Register if staying more than 10 days
If you plan to stay longer than 10 days, your hotel or host must register you with OVIR within 3 days. If you're in a private home, you need to do this yourself. Unregistered overstays can result in a fine when you leave the country.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.tj, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 USD). Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Print or save your eVisa
Print a paper copy of the eVisa and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at the Dushanbe airport immigration counter or at any land border crossing.
3
Arrive and go through immigration
At Dushanbe International Airport (or at a land border), join the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket. The officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). You'll get an entry stamp — keep it safe for departure.
4
Register with OVIR if staying more than 10 days
If you plan to stay longer than 10 days, your hotel or host must register you with the local OVIR office within 3 days of arrival. If you're staying in a private home, you need to do this yourself. Failure to register can result in a fine when you leave.
