Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free stay is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you must leave Moldova (e.g., to Romania or Ukraine) and re-enter after a period outside. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
No, not for stays under 90 days. Moldova does not require registration for short-term visitors. Just keep your passport with you.
Same rules apply. At land borders (e.g., Palanca from Ukraine, Leușeni from Romania), you'll queue at the passport control booth. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The process is the same as at the airport.
Yes, as a tourist you can work remotely (digital nomad style). But you cannot take a local job or do paid work for a Moldovan company without a work permit. The 90-day visa-free stay is for tourism and business visits only.
Overstaying is a violation. You may be fined (typically 200–400 MDL per day over, roughly €10–20) and could be banned from re-entering Moldova for up to 1 year. Avoid it by tracking your days.
No separate visa is needed for Transnistria if you enter from Moldova. You can cross the border at checkpoints like Varnița or Dubăsari with your passport. However, Transnistrian authorities may register you for up to 45 days. If you stay longer, you need to register with their migration office.
No. There is no departure tax when leaving Moldova by air or land. Just go through passport control and you're done.
