Cyprus passport holders need an eVisa to enter Russia in 2026. The eVisa allows a single entry for up to 16 days and must be applied for online before travel. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Unified e-Visa (E-visa)You need to apply for an electronic visa before your trip; it cannot be obtained at the border.
Must apply before travel
Citizens of Cyprus must obtain a unified e-visa for Russia. Apply online through the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. The e-visa is single-entry, valid for up to 16 days, and allows a stay of up to 16 days. Processing time is typically up to 4 calendar days. No visa is available on arrival.Required
Passport validityYour passport must be valid for 6 months after your departure from Russia to avoid entry denial.
Minimum 6 months beyond intended departure
Your Cyprus passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you plan to leave Russia. Ensure your passport meets this requirement before applying for the e-visa.Required
Blank passport pagesYou need a blank page for the Russian border stamp; no visa sticker is placed in the passport.
At least 1 blank page
Your passport must contain at least 1 blank page for the entry and exit stamps. The e-visa is electronic, but border officers will stamp your passport.Required
Return or onward ticketYou need to show a ticket leaving Russia within your visa's validity to prove you will not overstay.
Proof of departure from Russia
You must have a confirmed return or onward ticket showing departure from Russia within the e-visa validity period (16 days). This is a standard requirement for e-visa holders.Required
Proof of sufficient fundsCarry evidence of funds (cash or bank statement) to show you can cover your expenses if asked.
Amount not specified by authorities
Russian immigration may request proof of sufficient funds for your stay. While no specific amount is mandated, it is advisable to carry cash or a bank statement showing at least 500 RUB per day (approx. 5-10 EUR) or equivalent. Credit cards are widely accepted in cities.Recommended
Arrival declaration (migration card)You do not need to fill out a separate arrival form; the e-visa covers entry, but keep the migration card stub given at the border.
Not required for e-visa holders
No separate arrival declaration form is required for e-visa holders. The e-visa itself serves as the entry authorization. However, upon arrival, you will receive a migration card stub that must be kept until departure. Not required
Visa extensionYou cannot extend your e-visa; plan your trip to leave before it expires.
Not possible for e-visa
The unified e-visa for Russia is not extendable. You must leave Russia within 16 days of entry. Overstaying can result in fines, deportation, and future entry bans. Not required
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa allows a single entry into Russia. If you leave Russia for any reason (even a day trip to a neighboring country), you cannot re-enter on the same eVisa. You'd need to apply for a new one.
Registration requirement after 7 days
If you're staying in Russia for more than 7 days, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office. Hotels handle this automatically. If you're in private accommodation, remind your host — failure to register can lead to fines or deportation.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Russian eVisa portal (evisa.kdmid.ru) and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, a digital photo, and your accommodation address. Processing takes up to 4 calendar days. The eVisa is free.
2
Book your travel and accommodation
Book a return flight and your first night's accommodation. Make sure the accommodation address matches what you entered on the eVisa application. Keep all confirmations saved on your phone.
3
Arrive at the airport in Russia
At passport control, present your passport and the eVisa approval (printed or on your phone). The officer will check your passport validity, stamp your entry, and note the allowed stay. Have your return ticket and accommodation confirmation ready in case they ask.
4
Register your stay (if staying more than 7 days)
If you're staying in Russia for more than 7 days, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office. This is usually done automatically by hotels. If you're in private accommodation, remind your host to do it within 7 days of your arrival.

No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave Russia before the 16-day validity expires. If you need to stay longer, you'll need to apply for a different type of visa before traveling.

Immigration officers may ask to see your return or onward ticket. It's best to have a printed copy or a screenshot saved on your phone. Without it, you could be questioned or denied entry.
Travel insurance is not always required for entry, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Russia can be very high, and insurance covers you for unexpected illness or injury. Some airlines may also ask for proof of insurance before boarding.
