Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for a DR Congo eVisa at visa.gouv.cd before you fly. The online form takes about 15 minutes — upload a passport photo and your passport data page. Processing time varies, so apply at least 2 weeks ahead.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Czech passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure date from DR Congo. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit
Immigration at N'djili Airport in Kinshasa asks for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or the booking on your phone ready — they check this before issuing your entry stamp.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in DR Congo. Immigration officers at the border may ask where you are staying — having a printed address helps.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. There is no fixed minimum amount, but officers may ask how you will cover your expenses.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have the yellow fever vaccine at least 10 days before arrival. Carry the yellow card with your passport — immigration at N'djili Airport checks it. No card, no entry.
eVisa processing times vary
Apply at least 2 weeks before departure. The official portal (visa.gouv.cd) can be slow. If you haven't heard back after 7 business days, contact the DR Congo embassy in Berlin (they handle Czech applications).

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official DR Congo eVisa portal (visa.gouv.cd). Fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Processing takes 3–7 business days.
2
Print or save the eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. At Prague Airport check-in, the airline will verify your eVisa before issuing a boarding pass.
4

After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Visa Control'. Present your passport and eVisa approval. The officer will stamp you in. Expect a short queue — 15–30 minutes is typical.
