Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Czech passport needs to be valid for your entire stay in Germany. Since you're entering the Schengen zone, the 90/180-day rule applies across all 29 Schengen countries — count your days carefully.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at German airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines at Berlin Brandenburg and Frankfurt check this before letting you board.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a signed invitation letter from your host ready. Officers at Frankfurt and Munich sometimes ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have at least €45 per day for your stay. German border police occasionally ask for this at land borders from Switzerland or Austria.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
German border officials check passport validity from your entry date, not your departure. If your passport has less than 6 months left, you may be refused entry. Renew it before you go.
Schengen zone rules apply
Your 90-day limit counts across all 27 Schengen countries. If you've already spent 30 days in France, you only have 60 days left for Germany and the rest of the zone.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, check your passport is valid for 6+ months from entry. Book your flight, first night accommodation, and optional travel insurance. Save all confirmations as screenshots or PDFs on your phone.
2
Arrive at the border
At any German airport or land border, join the queue for non-EU passports (even though you're visa-free). Have your passport ready. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying.
3
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. If asked, show your return ticket and accommodation booking. Answer honestly and briefly. The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim (if any) and then to the arrivals hall. You're now legally in Germany for up to 90 days.
