RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Gambia. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page separately.Required

Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Airlines at Prague and other departure airports may deny boarding without one.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Gambia ready. Officers occasionally ask for it at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or card
Carry enough cash (USD or euros) or a credit card to cover your stay. There is no fixed minimum, but around $50 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
6-month passport validity is strictly enforced
Immigration will check your passport's expiry date against the date you enter. If it's less than 6 months away, you'll be refused entry. No exceptions.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Banjul International Airport (BJL)
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The immigration officer will stamp you in — usually takes 2-5 minutes.
2
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. Then walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're free to go.
