Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Czech passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Tajikistan. Airlines check this at check-in, so make sure it's not expiring before your departure date.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tajikistan
Immigration officers at Dushanbe Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready to show.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Border officers sometimes ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to roughly $50 per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it's better to have it ready than to scramble at the counter.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines and border officers will check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it's close to expiring, renew before you go. There are no exceptions.
GBAO permit required for Pamir Highway
If you plan to travel to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (including the famous Pamir Highway), you need a separate permit. Apply online or in Dushanbe at least a few days in advance. Cost is about $20.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport
Most Czech travellers fly into Dushanbe (DYU). After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Tajik citizens and foreigners. Join the foreigners queue.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport and boarding pass. The officer will check your visa-free eligibility, verify your passport validity, and may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking. Answer clearly and calmly.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (30 days). Check the stamp before walking away — make sure the dates are correct. You're now free to enter Tajikistan.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over the duty-free limit. Most tourists use the green channel.
