Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Turkey. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by Turkish immigration, but airlines sometimes enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Turkey
Immigration officers at Istanbul Airport and Antalya routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready — if you can't show one, they may deny entry or put you on the next flight out.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital hotel confirmation for your entire stay. If you're staying with friends or family, have their Turkish ID number and address written down — border officers sometimes ask for this at passport control.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least $50 USD per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do and you can't show anything, they can refuse entry.Recommended
Overstaying is expensive
If you stay beyond 90 days, you'll be fined per day and may be banned from re-entering Turkey for up to 5 years. Set a reminder on your phone.
Keep a copy of your passport
Take a photo of your passport's main page and the entry stamp. If you lose your passport, this makes replacement at the Czech embassy much faster.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before leaving home, check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date) and ensure at least 1 blank page. Print or screenshot your return ticket and first night's hotel booking. Get travel insurance and an eSIM if desired.
2
At the airport (departure)
At Prague Airport (PRG) or any other Czech departure point, the airline will check your passport and may ask for a return ticket. No visa is needed, so no extra paperwork.
3
Arrival at Turkish airport
At Istanbul Airport (IST), Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), or Antalya (AYT), follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' or 'Yabancı Pasaport'. Join the queue for non-Turkish citizens. Have your passport ready.
4
Immigration interview
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: 'How long are you staying?', 'Where are you staying?', 'Do you have a return ticket?'. Answer briefly and honestly. They will stamp your passport with 'visa-free' entry and a date. No fingerprints are taken for Czech citizens.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if nothing to declare. You're free to enter Turkey.
