What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Bhutan eVisa website. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the visa fee (around $40 USD) by credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email within 3–5 business days.
2
Print or save eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Paro International Airport
Paro is the only international airport in Bhutan. After landing, follow signs to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process takes about 10–15 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs checkpoint — declare any expensive electronics or large amounts of cash. Then you're free to enter Bhutan.
