Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Danish passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Belarusian law, but airlines may check for 6 months — confirm with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Immigration officers at Minsk National Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officials may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation from a Belarusian host works. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
You might need to demonstrate at least €50 per day of your stay. A bank statement or credit card showing available balance is fine — officers rarely ask, but it's better to have it.Recommended
Registration with local authorities
Mandatory within 5 days of arrival
If you stay longer than 5 days, you must register your address with the local migration office. Hotels do this automatically; private hosts need to accompany you. Overstaying this deadline can mean a fine and a headache at departure.Required
Visa-free only via Minsk airport
You must fly into Minsk National Airport (MSQ). Land border crossings from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, or Ukraine are not permitted under this visa-free arrangement. If you arrive by train or car, you need a visa.
Register within 5 days
If you're staying in a private apartment (not a hotel), your host must register you with the local migration office within 5 working days. Hotels do this automatically. Unregistered stays can result in fines of up to 50 BYN (~€15) and a note in your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Minsk National Airport
All visa-free entries must be through Minsk National Airport (MSQ). After landing, follow signs to passport control. There are separate queues for Belarusian citizens and foreigners — join the foreigners line.
2
Present documents at passport control
Hand over your passport and, if asked, your return ticket and accommodation confirmation. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. This usually takes 2–5 minutes.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for standard goods. If you have nothing to declare, walk straight through.
