Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Cameroon. Apply at the official eVisa portal at least 72 hours before departure. The eVisa is single-entry and valid for up to 90 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your stay
Your Danish passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Cameroon. No specific minimum validity beyond your departure date is required, but airlines may enforce 6 months validity — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Yaoundé and Douala airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Cameroon within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Cameroon. Officers may ask for it at the border, especially if you're arriving without a pre-arranged tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to demonstrate you have enough funds for your stay. There's no fixed minimum, but around 100,000 XAF per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have the yellow fever vaccine and carry the International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card). Immigration will ask. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and pay a fee).
Local SIMs are cheap and easy
Buy a local SIM at the airport (MTN or Orange) for around €2–€5 with data. Alternatively, get an Airalo eSIM before travel—it activates on landing for immediate data access.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your eVisa online
Go to evisacameroon.com. Fill in personal and travel details, upload a passport photo and passport bio page scan, and pay by card (€50–€80). Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive an approval email—print it or save it on your phone.
2
Pack your documents
Before leaving, gather printed eVisa approval, passport, return ticket confirmation, and first night hotel booking. Keep them in a folder or clear plastic sleeve in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
Most international flights land at Yaoundé Nsimalen (NSI) or Douala International (DLA). After deplaning, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Expect 20–40 minutes in queue.
4
Present your documents at immigration
Hand over passport and eVisa approval. The officer checks details, stamps your passport, and may ask for return ticket or hotel booking. Answer politely. If in order, you're waved through.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, go to baggage claim. Customs is straightforward—declare large cash amounts or restricted items. Then exit the airport.
