Serious security risk

Apply for the e-visa online
Go to evisa.mfa.af, create an account, fill in the application form, upload your photo and passport scan, and pay the fee (around $50–100 depending on nationality). Processing usually takes 3–5 working days, but can take up to 2 weeks — apply at least 2–3 weeks before your trip.

Receive your e-visa by email
Once approved, you will get a PDF e-visa. Print it out — you will need a physical copy to show at check-in and at Afghan immigration. Save a digital copy on your phone as backup.

Arrive at Kabul International Airport
At Kabul (KBL), go to the 'Visa' or 'Foreigners' queue. Present your passport, printed e-visa, and your onward ticket. An officer will check your details, take your fingerprints, and stamp you in. Expect this to take 20–40 minutes.

Enter Afghanistan and register with local authorities
