eVisa application
Apply before travel
Egyptian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cuba. Apply at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal linked below. Processing takes 3–5 business days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cuba. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cuban law, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Cuban immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed copy or digital confirmation ready. Without one, you risk being denied entry and sent back on the next flight.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or casa booking
Carry a printed reservation for your first night in Cuba. Officers may ask where you are staying — having a booking confirmation avoids delays. Casas particulares (private homestays) are common and accepted.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Immigration may ask how you will fund your trip. Have bank statements or a credit card ready. There is no fixed minimum, but showing access to at least $500 USD equivalent is a safe bet.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Cuba. If it expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Renew your passport well in advance.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation booking as PDFs on your phone and email them to yourself. If you lose the paper copies, you can still show them on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cuban eVisa website (or your airline's recommended portal). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Pay the fee (typically around $30–$50 USD) and submit. You'll usually get approval within 1–3 business days.
2
Print your eVisa and pack supporting documents
Once approved, print a paper copy of the eVisa and save a PDF on your phone. Also print or save your return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance certificate. Keep them together in a folder.
3
Arrive at Havana's José Martí International Airport (HAV)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. You'll queue at a counter where an officer checks your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. They may ask where you're staying. The process usually takes 10–20 minutes. After stamping, you collect your luggage and proceed to customs.
4
Activate your eSIM or buy a local SIM
If you have an Airalo eSIM, it activates automatically on landing. Otherwise, look for an ETECSA kiosk in the arrivals hall to buy a local SIM. You'll need your passport for registration.
