Egyptian passport holders need a visa to enter Spain in 2026. Spain is part of the Schengen Area, so you'll apply for a Schengen visa at the Spanish consulate in Cairo. Plan ahead — processing can take 2–4 weeks.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus

Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Egyptian passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date from the Schengen area. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page separately from the original.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Border officers at Spanish airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital return ticket or a ticket to a non-Schengen country ready. Airlines also check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Immigration may ask for hotel bookings, an invitation letter from a host, or proof of where you are staying each night. Keep printed confirmations or have them accessible on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
You may be asked to show you have at least €100 per day of your stay (or a total of €900 for stays up to 9 days). Carry bank statements, a credit card, or cash in euros.Recommended
Visa processing times can be unpredictable
Apply at least 4–6 weeks before your planned departure. During peak season (summer, holidays), appointments fill up and processing can take 30+ days. Don't book non-refundable flights until you have the visa in hand.
Schengen visa rules apply to all 27 countries
With a Spanish Schengen visa, you can travel to France, Germany, Italy, and other Schengen states. But Spain must be your main destination — meaning you spend the most days there, or it's your first entry point.

What happens at the border

1
Book your appointment
Go to the BLS International or Spanish consulate website in Cairo. Choose a date for your visa appointment. Slots fill up fast — book 3–4 weeks ahead.
2
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport, application form, photos, flight itinerary, hotel bookings, insurance, bank statements, and any other supporting papers. Make photocopies of everything.
3
Attend the visa interview
Show up at the visa center on time. Submit your documents, pay the fee (around €80 plus service charge), and give biometrics (fingerprints and photo). The interview is usually short — they'll ask about your trip purpose and plans.
4
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 15 calendar days. It can stretch to 30–45 days if they need extra checks. Track your application online with the reference number you get.
5
Collect your passport
Once approved, you'll get a visa sticker in your passport. Check the dates and number of entries — they should match your application. If something's wrong, ask for correction immediately.
6
Arrive in Spain
At Spanish border control, hand over your passport with the visa. The officer may ask to see your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer clearly and briefly. You'll get an entry stamp — that's your official permission to stay.
