Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az at least 3 working days before departure. The eVisa costs $26 USD and is valid for a single entry up to 30 days. Print the approved eVisa and carry it with your passport — border officers will scan the QR code.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Spanish passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Azerbaijan. Airlines and border officers check this at check-in and upon arrival.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Azerbaijan immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready to show at the border.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Azerbaijan. Officers may ask for this during immigration questioning.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to demonstrate you have enough funds for your stay. Immigration officers rarely ask, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Azerbaijan, not from your departure date. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
eVisa is single-entry only
The standard eVisa is valid for a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days. If you leave Azerbaijan, you'll need a new visa to re-enter.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gov.az. Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $20-25 USD). Processing takes up to 3 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Print or save your eVisa
Once approved, print a copy and also save it on your phone. The eVisa is linked to your passport, but having a backup avoids hassle if your phone dies.
3
Arrive at the airport in Azerbaijan
At Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, proceed to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, eVisa (printed or on phone), and return ticket ready. The officer will check your documents and stamp your passport.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. Use the green channel if you have nothing to declare, or the red channel for goods over the duty-free limit.
