Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Visa on arrival
Apply online at the Bahrain eVisa portal before travel. The visa on arrival option exists but the eVisa is faster and avoids queues at Bahrain International Airport. Processing takes 1–3 business days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your stay
Your Finnish passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Bahrain. No minimum validity period beyond departure is required, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Bahrain International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping your passport.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Bahrain. Officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a return ticket.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to funds. Immigration rarely checks it for Finnish passport holders, but it helps if questioned about your stay.Recommended
Visa on arrival is straightforward
Finnish passport holders have one of the easiest entry processes to Bahrain. No advance application, no photos, no forms to fill. Just show up with a valid passport and a return ticket.
Overstay fines are steep
If you overstay even by one day, you'll be fined 10 BHD per day. The fine is payable at the airport before departure. Set a reminder to leave on time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Bahrain International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Visa on Arrival' counters. These are clearly marked and separate from the main immigration queues for pre-approved visa holders.
2
Present documents at the visa counter
Hand over your passport and return ticket. The officer will process your visa — this usually takes 5–10 minutes. You'll pay the visa fee (5 BHD for a 14-day visa) by credit card or cash (Bahraini dinars).
3
Receive visa and proceed to immigration
Once the visa is issued, you'll get a sticker in your passport. Then join the regular immigration queue. Show your passport with the new visa, and you're through.
