Finnish passport holders can enter Brazil without a visa for tourism or business stays up to 90 days. This visa-free arrangement is in effect for 2026 and covers most short-term visits. Just make sure your passport is valid for at least six months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Brazil
Your passport needs at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires within 6 months of your return date, they may deny boarding. Brazil does not officially require 6 months validity for Finnish passports, but airlines enforce it as a standard policy.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Brazil
Immigration officers at GRU and GIG routinely ask for a return or onward ticket before stamping you in. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they won't let you through without it. If you're flying out to a third country, that ticket counts.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Brazilian immigration rarely asks for this, but having a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host speeds things up. If you're staying with friends, get their address and phone number written down — officers may call to verify.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or credit card
You don't need to show a specific amount, but carrying a bank statement or a credit card with a decent limit covers you. Officers at smaller airports like Recife or Fortaleza sometimes ask — better to have it than to scramble.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Brazil requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you may be denied boarding even if you have a visa.
No visa needed for 2026
Finland is on Brazil's visa-free list for stays up to 90 days. This applies to tourism, business, and transit. No application or fee required.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Brazilian immigration
At the airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (Controle de Passaportes). Join the queue for 'All Passports' or 'Foreigners' — not the Brazilian citizens line.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport and, if asked, your return ticket and accommodation booking. The officer may ask the purpose and duration of your visit. Answer clearly.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date and the number of days granted (usually 90). Check the stamp before leaving the counter.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're now legally in Brazil.
