Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for a Cameroon eVisa at the official portal before you fly. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so submit at least a week ahead. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Finnish passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your departure date from Cameroon. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yaoundé and Douala airports always ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone — they will not let you through without one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Hotel booking or an invitation letter from your host helps at immigration. Officers occasionally ask where you are staying — having a printed confirmation avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry evidence of sufficient funds — around 500,000 XAF (€750) in cash or a bank statement. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) to enter Cameroon. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and pay a fine). Get the shot at least 10 days before you fly.
eVisa is for single entry only
The Cameroon eVisa is valid for a single entry. If you leave Cameroon (even to a neighbouring country), you'll need a new eVisa to re-enter. Plan your itinerary accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around €70–€100 depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for approval — typically 3–7 business days.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Cameroon.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
At Helsinki or any other departure airport, the airline will check your eVisa before letting you board. Have your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket ready.
4
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in — usually takes 2–5 minutes per person.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check (green/nothing to declare or red/items to declare). Most tourists walk straight through.
