Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get your visa on arrival at Egyptian airports and land borders. Pay the fee in cash (USD, EUR, or GBP) — single entry costs $25 USD, multiple entry costs $60 USD. Have a passport photo ready, though they rarely ask for one.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Valid passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date in Egypt. Airlines check this strictly before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Return or onward ticket
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without it, you risk being refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Proof of accommodation
Carry a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Proof of funds
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to roughly $1,000 USD for your stay. Officers rarely check this for Finnish passport holders, but it's safer to have it accessible.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The bank kiosk before immigration does not accept cards. Bring USD 25 (or EUR/GBP equivalent) in cash, exact change preferred. If you pay with a larger bill, you'll get change in Egyptian pounds at an unfavorable rate.
South Sinai exemption
If you fly directly to Sharm el-Sheikh and stay only in the South Sinai region (including Dahab, Nuweiba, St. Catherine), you can get a free 15-day entry stamp at the airport. To travel outside South Sinai, you need the standard visa on arrival.

What happens at the border

1
Land and head to the bank kiosk
After deplaning at Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, or Luxor airports, follow signs to 'Bank' or 'Visa on Arrival' before the immigration counters. There will be a small bank window or kiosk.
2
Pay the fee and get your sticker
Hand over USD 25 (or EUR/GBP equivalent) in cash. The teller will give you a visa sticker. Do not stick it in your passport yet.
3
Proceed to immigration
Join the queue for foreign passports. When it's your turn, hand over your passport, the visa sticker, and your boarding pass. The officer will affix the sticker and stamp you in.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. No additional forms needed.
