Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Côte d'Ivoire eVisa at the SNEDAI portal. The eVisa is mandatory for French passport holders — you cannot get a visa on arrival. Processing takes 2–3 business days, and you'll receive a PDF approval to print and present at Abidjan airport immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your French passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Côte d'Ivoire. Airlines at CDG and ORY enforce this strictly — they won't let you board without sufficient validity.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration at Abidjan airport asks for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Côte d'Ivoire. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to roughly 500,000 XOF (~€760) per week of stay. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you'll need to show you're not travelling broke.Recommended
Vaccination required
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Côte d'Ivoire. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and pay a fine). Get the shot at least 10 days before you travel.
Currency and cash
The local currency is the West African CFA franc (XOF). Euros are widely accepted at hotels and larger restaurants, but you'll need local cash for taxis, markets, and small shops. ATMs are available in Abidjan but less common elsewhere.
