Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Greek passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in the Dominican Republic. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Dominican law, but airlines may enforce their own 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Dominican Republic
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at passport control in Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and Puerto Plata. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready — they will deny entry without it.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed or digital copy of your hotel reservation, Airbnb confirmation, or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do and you have nothing, you risk being questioned further.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to at least $100 USD per day of your stay, either in cash, credit card, or bank statement. Immigration may ask to see proof of funds if you look underprepared — a quick screenshot of your bank app works.Recommended
E-Ticket form (Check-Mig)
Online pre-registration for entry and exit
Fill out the Dominican Republic's free E-Ticket form at migracion.gob.do within 72 hours before your flight. You get a QR code for both arrival and departure — save the PDF or screenshot it. Officers scan it at immigration, and without it you'll be held up filling it out on your phone at the counter.Open E-Ticket formRequired
Keep the entry card
When you enter, immigration gives you a small card (the 'tourist card'). Keep it with your passport — you must hand it back when you leave. Losing it means extra paperwork and a small fine at departure.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check the 6-month rule before you board. If your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date, you will be denied boarding — no exceptions. Double-check before you go.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from arrival). Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone. Consider getting travel insurance and an eSIM.
2
Arrive at Punta Cana or Santo Domingo airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Migración' (Immigration). Join the queue for foreign visitors. Have your passport and return ticket screenshot ready.
3
Present your passport and answer questions
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: 'How long are you staying?', 'Where are you staying?', 'Do you have a return ticket?'. Answer clearly and briefly. They rarely ask for proof of funds for Greek passport holders.
4
Receive entry stamp and collect luggage
The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day entry. Keep the stamped card they give you — you'll need it when leaving. Then proceed to baggage claim and customs.
