Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Russia eVisa
Apply online at the official Russia eVisa portal before travel. The eVisa allows a single entry for up to 16 days. Processing takes up to 4 calendar days — apply at least a week before your flight to be safe.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Greece passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Russia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Russian airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready — they may check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
You need a confirmed hotel reservation or a visa invitation letter for the entire stay. Officers at passport control sometimes ask to see it — keep a printed copy or a screenshot on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Carry at least 500 USD in cash or a credit card statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration can ask to see proof you can support yourself during the trip — having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
eVisa is single entry only
You cannot leave and re-enter Russia on the same eVisa. If you leave, you'll need a new visa to return.
Register your stay within 7 days
Your hotel or host must register you with local authorities within 7 days of arrival. If you're in a private apartment, remind your host. This is a legal requirement.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.kdmid.ru and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, a digital photo, and your travel dates. Submit at least 4 days before departure. Processing usually takes 2–4 days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. The eVisa is linked to your passport number — no need to carry the paper, but it's smart to have a backup.
3
Arrive at the airport in Russia
At passport control, hand over your passport and the printed eVisa (or show the digital copy). The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly. The process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Register your stay
Within 7 days of arrival, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office. If you're in a private apartment, the host should do this. You don't need to do anything — just confirm with them.
