Hungarian passport holders need an eVisa to visit Myanmar for tourism or business. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue and allows a single entry stay of up to 28 days. Apply online before you travel — there's no visa on arrival for Hungarian citizens as of 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Myanmar eVisa
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal before you travel. The eVisa is valid for tourism or business, single entry, and allows a stay of up to 28 days. Processing takes about 3 working days — apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay
Your Hungarian passport needs at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Myanmar. Airlines at Budapest and connecting hubs check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Myanmar
Immigration officers at Yangon and Mandalay airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket before they stamp you in. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready — they will check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Myanmar. Immigration may ask for your first night's address on arrival, and some airlines request it at check-in.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Have at least $300–$500 in cash (USD or euros) or a recent bank statement showing sufficient balance. Myanmar immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your stay without working.Recommended
eVisa only at airports
The eVisa is only accepted at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw international airports. If you arrive by land border, you'll be denied entry. Plan your route accordingly.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Myanmar, not from when you apply for the eVisa. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying.
Keep a printed copy of your eVisa
Immigration officers prefer a printed copy of your eVisa approval letter. Print it at home or at a shop before you fly. Also save a PDF on your phone as backup.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 USD). Processing takes 3–5 working days, sometimes longer. Apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval letter. Download and print a copy, and save a PDF on your phone. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Before you land, have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and first night hotel booking ready. Keep them in an easily accessible pocket — not buried in your bag.
4
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
The eVisa is only accepted at these three international airports. If you arrive by land border, you'll need a different visa. At immigration, hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer will stamp you in for up to 28 days.
5
Complete the arrival card
You'll receive a paper arrival card on the plane or at the airport. Fill it out with your flight details, accommodation address, and passport info. Hand it to immigration along with your passport.
