Apply for a visitor visa online

Processing takes 2–6 weeks on average.

Wait for visa decision
IRCC will review your application. You may be asked to submit biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Jakarta or Surabaya. Biometrics cost CAD 85. Once approved, you'll receive a visa sticker in your passport.

Prepare for arrival in Canada
Before you fly, print or save your visa approval letter, return ticket, accommodation booking, and insurance documents. At the airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and proceed to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) booth. Hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask about your trip purpose, funds, and return plans. Answer honestly and calmly.

Enter Canada and collect your luggage
After clearing immigration, collect your checked luggage from the carousel. If you have nothing to declare, use the 'Nothing to Declare' lane at customs. If you have goods over CAD 800 or restricted items, use the 'Goods to Declare' lane.
