Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Visa required
Apply for a visa at the nearest Israeli embassy or consulate before travel. Processing takes 5–10 business days for most applications. Submit your passport, completed application form, passport photos, flight itinerary, and hotel bookings.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond departure
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your planned departure date from Israel. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Ben Gurion Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel confirmations or an invitation letter from your host in Israel speed up the immigration process. Officers may ask where you are staying — having a printed booking confirmation avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry at least 1,500 ILS (around $400 USD) in cash or have a credit card with sufficient balance. Immigration rarely asks, but showing funds can help if questioned about your stay.Recommended
Visa required — apply early
Indonesian passport holders cannot enter Israel without an approved visa. The online application takes 5–14 days, so start at least 3 weeks before your trip. No visa on arrival is available.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Israel, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your visa online
Go to https://israel-entry.piba.gov.il, fill out the application form, upload your passport scan and photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 5–14 days. You'll receive an approval email — print it or save it on your phone.
2
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep digital copies on your phone and a printed backup in your bag.
3
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV)
At passport control, hand over your passport and visa approval. The officer may ask about your itinerary, return ticket, and accommodation. Answer clearly and briefly. You'll get an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days.
4
Exit the airport
After clearing immigration, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. There are ATMs, currency exchange counters, and SIM card shops in the arrivals hall. Taxis and trains connect to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Frequently asked questions

No. You must apply for a visa online before you travel. There is no visa-on-arrival option for Indonesian citizens.
Processing typically takes 5 to 14 days. Apply at least 3 weeks before your planned departure to be safe. The fee is around 100–150 ILS (about 30–40 USD), depending on the visa type.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's shorter, renew your passport before applying for the visa.
Yes, you need proof of onward travel — a flight out of Israel to another country. A one-way ticket without onward plans may cause issues at immigration.
Extensions are not typically granted for tourist visas. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a different visa type before your current one expires. Contact the Population and Immigration Authority in Israel.
It is not always required at passport control, but it is strongly recommended. Medical costs in Israel are high, and insurance covers emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage.
You can reapply with additional supporting documents (e.g., stronger proof of ties to Indonesia, detailed itinerary, or a letter of invitation). There is no formal appeal process, but a new application is reviewed fresh.
