Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal before departure. The eVisa is mandatory for Indonesian passport holders — you cannot get a visa on arrival at Entebbe Airport. Processing takes 2–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines at Jakarta and Bali check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight out of Uganda. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — they will not let you through without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Officers sometimes ask for this during the visa interview at the border, especially if you are staying more than a few days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement showing at least $500 USD or the equivalent in cash. Immigration may ask to see you have enough money for your stay, particularly if you are traveling without a prepaid tour package.Recommended
eVisa must be approved before travel
Do not book non-refundable flights or accommodation until your eVisa is approved. Processing delays can happen, and you cannot enter Uganda without the approval.
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You will be asked for your yellow fever vaccination certificate at Entebbe airport. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot (and possibly quarantined). Get the shot at least 10 days before departure.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda eVisa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and accommodation. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (typically around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days, but can take longer during peak times.
2
Receive and print eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Uganda.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes if your documents are in order.
