Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Irish passport must be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Belarusian law, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Border officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket at Minsk National Airport. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure within the 30-day visa-free window.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation from a Belarusian host (if staying privately) covers this. Keep a printed copy in your carry-on.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds. A bank statement or credit card showing access to at least €50 per day of stay is the informal benchmark. Have a recent statement handy.Recommended
Entry only via Minsk airport
The visa-free regime only applies when you fly into Minsk National Airport. Arriving by land from any neighbouring country means you'll need a visa. Plan your route accordingly.
No registration needed
Unlike some other visa-free regimes, you do not need to register with migration authorities after arrival. Just keep your passport and entry stamp safe.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Minsk National Airport
All visa-free entries must be through Minsk National Airport (MSQ). Land at Terminal 2, follow signs to 'Passport Control'.
2
Queue at passport control
Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for standard goods. No additional forms needed.
