Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Pakistan eVisa
Apply online at visa.nadra.gov.pk before you fly. Processing takes 3–5 working days for most nationalities. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Islamabad and Karachi will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Pakistan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Without one, you may be refused entry at the border. A flexible refundable ticket or a cheap onward flight to a neighbouring country works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter from your host in Pakistan ready. Immigration at major airports like Karachi and Lahore sometimes ask for it, especially if you are travelling solo.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Carry evidence of sufficient funds — a bank statement showing at least $500–$1,000 USD or a credit card with a decent limit. Officers rarely check it, but it can help if they question your stay.Recommended
eVisa processing time
Apply at least 7 days before your trip. Standard processing takes 3–7 working days. Don't book non-refundable flights until you have the eVisa in hand.
Passport validity counts from arrival
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Pakistan, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to visa.nadra.gov.pk and fill out the eVisa application. Upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $60–$100 depending on processing speed). Processing takes 3–7 working days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval. Print a copy and save a PDF on your phone. The eVisa is linked to your passport number.
3
Pack your documents
Print or save on your phone: passport, eVisa, return ticket, hotel booking, travel insurance. Keep them in a folder you can grab quickly.
4
Arrive at Pakistan immigration
At the airport (Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore), join the 'Foreigners' queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask about your stay and return ticket. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp with your permitted stay.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. Proceed through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're in.
