Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Uzbekistan. Airlines check this at check-in. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required by Uzbek immigration.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uzbekistan
Immigration officers at Tashkent International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Airlines also check this before boarding.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. A screenshot of your booking works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Uzbekistan doesn't have a fixed minimum, but carry at least $100–$200 in cash or have a credit card. ATMs are available in Tashkent but less reliable outside the capital.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Uzbekistan requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. This is not a suggestion — airlines check it at check-in, and immigration checks it on arrival. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding or entry.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save screenshots of your return ticket, accommodation booking, and passport info page on your phone. Uzbekistan's internet can be slow or unreliable, so having offline copies saves hassle.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Tashkent International Airport (TAS)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passport holders. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer will check your passport validity, ask your purpose of visit, and may request your return ticket or accommodation confirmation. They'll stamp your passport with a 30-day entry stamp. The whole process usually takes 10-20 minutes.
2
Land border crossings
If arriving by land from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, or Turkmenistan, you'll go through the same process at the border checkpoint. Have your passport and any supporting documents ready. Land crossings can be slower than airports — expect 30-60 minutes.
3
Departure from Uzbekistan
When leaving, you'll go through passport control again. The officer will check your exit stamp and confirm you didn't overstay. Keep your boarding pass and passport handy.
