Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into the UAE. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.
Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the UAE
Immigration officers at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot on your phone showing your flight out of the UAE within 90 days.
Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel confirmation, a rental agreement, or a letter from your host in the UAE ready to show. A printed copy works best.
Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Officers can request proof you can support yourself. Carry a bank statement, credit card, or cash showing you have enough for accommodation, food, and transport during your visit.
Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in the UAE, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before you go.
No extension available
The 90-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. Plan your trip accordingly and leave before day 90 to avoid fines.
What happens at the border
1
Arrive at UAE airport
You'll land at Dubai (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH), or another UAE airport. Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and 'Passport Control'.
2
Queue at immigration
Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will scan your passport, take a photo, and stamp you in.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items.
