Israeli passport holders can enter Peru for tourism or business stays up to 180 days without a visa. This policy is in effect for 2025. You only need your passport, but immigration at Lima's Jorge Chávez Airport routinely checks for a return ticket and proof of funds.

Altitude sickness is real in Cusco and Machu Picchu
Cusco sits at 3,400 meters (11,200 feet). Most visitors feel some effects — headache, nausea, shortness of breath. Acclimatize for 1-2 days before doing any hiking. Drink coca tea, stay hydrated, and avoid heavy meals and alcohol. If symptoms worsen, descend immediately.
Travel insurance with evacuation coverage is strongly advised
Private clinics in Lima and Cusco are good but expensive. A hospital stay can cost hundreds of dollars per day. Public hospitals may be under-resourced. If you're heading to remote areas like the Amazon or high-altitude treks, evacuation insurance is a must.

Arrive at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM)
After landing, follow signs to 'Migraciones' (Immigration). Queues can be long, especially during peak hours (morning and evening). Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport with a 180-day entry. No forms to fill — the Andean Migration Card (TAM) is now electronic and pre-registered online.

Pass through immigration control
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: 'How long are you staying?' and 'Where are you staying?' Answer clearly. They may also ask to see your return ticket. If everything is in order, you'll get a stamp and be waved through. The whole process takes 1-3 minutes per person.

Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim. Then head to customs — there's a 'nothing to declare' lane if you have no restricted items. You're now free to enter Peru.
